Sponsored by Form, Re+Public joined 30 other international artists as a part of the PUBLIC festival. Re+Public completed 2 small murals on Murray st. across from the IBIS hotel, and a larger mural on Wolf Lane. Additionally, our murals appeared in bus stop shelters around the city. Like our work at SXSW, through the Re+Public app, these murals digitally come alive. Additionally, how the user chooses to interact with the mural alters the mural's digital content, which provides anonymous data in terms of how individuals are engaging with the art, and ultimately the space that situates that art.

SXSW [austin, march 2014]
Sponsored by Qualcomm Vuforia and IEEE, Re+Public launched its first solo mural at SXSW14. The wall was donated by the Recess Arcade Bar. Typically collaborating w/ other muralists, Re+Public saw creating our own mural content as the natural evolution in our work. An 84' x 32' wheatepaste mural, the content deals with the concepts of production, advertising, and consumption. Through the Re+Public app, the mural comes alive in digital 3D, animation, and movie textures. Additionally, users can interact with the mural by touching either "production" or "beauty". This choice forms an anonymous data set, which could potentially develop into more intentional data sets with regard to how citizens interact with the urban space that surrounds them.

grand-place takeover [brussels, nov. 2013]
In November 2013, just after the completion of our collaboration with MOMO in St. Louis, Re+Public traveled to Brussels, Belgium to participate in a tech art summit / workshop organized by the European Union Commission, IMAL, and the Harlan Levey Projects. During our five day stay in Brussels, we seized the opportunity to digitally takeover Grand-Place, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although we were extremely pressed for time, we were able to successfully demo three custom-built mobile AR functionalities: interactive augmented mapping, interactive data visualization, and a digital art installation. Please stay tuned for our digital mural project at SXSW Interactive 2014 in March...

moto museum [st. louis, sep. 2013]
In collaboration with Grand Center, the Art and Life Alliance and MOMO, Re+Public has completed a digital, immersive, and interactive mural on the Moto Museum (Steve Smith, Owner) wall (85' x 21') in St. Louis @ Grand Center. The mural launched during the Dancing in the Streets event on Sept. 21, 2013. There are 14 basic shapes embedded in the painted mural. The Re+Public app unlocks 42 digital variations of those basic shapes and allows users to view and randomly re-compose the mural into hundreds of variations.

bowery wall [nyc, june 2012]
In 1982, Keith Haring painted the first mural on the Houston & Bowery Street wall in New York City. Since the original Haring piece, the wall was bombed by ads and tags. However, in 2008, the wall was restored through the hard work of the wall's owner Tony Goldman and curator Jeffrey Deitch. The Goldman projects have collaborated with such artists as Os Gemeos, Shepard Fairey, Barry McGee, Sace, Kenny Scharf, JR, Faile and Retna. In June 2012, as part of the Re+Publiccollaboration between The Heavy Projects and Jordan Seiler's Public Ad Campaign, Heavy used augmented reality to create a virtual history of the famous mural site. Users are able to take a virtual tour of the wall and view each each piece as it originally appeared. Our project is dedicated to Tony Goldman (1943-2012).

augmented architecture [nyc | la may, 2012]
As part of the Re+Public collaboration between The Heavy Projects and Jordan Seiler's Public Ad Campaign, Heavy digitally resurfaced, or "skinned" physical buildings in urban centers by overlaying 3D content onto the physical environment. Creatively harnessing augmented reality (AR) technology, Heavy turned architecture into locations for meaningful cultural exchange and, in doing so, provides the user with a new way of seeing public space as a more open and democratic media environment.
